Printing & Placing QR Codes

QR codes are a vital component of Deficiency Detect’s value. They enable site teams and trades who aren’t registered users to access and review every deficiency within any area of the building. This means you can assign them to fix an item, and even if they are unsure about the details, they can simply scan the corresponding QR code to view the deficiency item, its location, and instructions for resolution.

Step 1: Generating QR Codes

To generate your QR codes, navigate to the Floors Page and select the desired floor. At the bottom of the table, you will see a QR code symbol. Click on it to bring up a popup displaying a preview of what the QR codes will look like.

Generating the PDF:

  • Click "Generate QR's" in the popup, and a PDF will be downloaded to your computer.
  • This PDF is optimized to use minimal space on the page, helping you reduce paper waste during printing.

Step 2: Printing and Cutting the QR Codes

Print out the PDF and cut each QR code box from the sheet. This makes it easy to place them around the building in the appropriate locations.

Pro Tip:

Ensure you distribute the QR codes correctly to their associated areas for optimal usability.

Step 3: Placing the QR Codes

Go around the building and affix the QR codes in their designated spots. This setup is intended to be completed once, although QR codes may occasionally get damaged during construction. If needed, you can repeat this process to generate and replace any damaged QR codes.

Finalizing Your Setup

Once all QR codes have been printed and placed around the building, your Deficiency Detect setup is officially complete! From here, you won’t need to engage in further setup—just use the platform for pure functionality.

In the following pages, we will dive into the platform's features and best practices to help you get the most out of Deficiency Detect.
